Is the Afghan Map Returning in COD MW2?

Many seasoned COD gamers were thrilled to hear that the 2009 classic Modern Warfare 2 will be getting a new makeover once the news of its upcoming revival broke.

For both new and seasoned fans of the franchise, COD Modern Warfare 2 is a ton of fun thanks to its brand-new game types, maps, and regular season events.

With each season, the game undergoes a significant revamp; season 2 is no exception.

But will Afghan be included in Modern Warfare 2 in the new season? Let’s investigate.

Does Modern Warfare 2 have the Afghan Map again?

Does Modern Warfare 2 have the Afghan Map again?

There are numerous new game additions and modes in Season 2 for MW 2 and Warzone 2, including the brand-new Al Mazrah for Warzone 2.

This map is a brand-new addition to the game, despite sharing many similarities with the original Afghan map from MW 2 from 2009. Simply told, Afghan has not been included in Warzone or Multiplayer.

Fans of the legendary multiplayer map may be disappointed, but just because it wasn’t included in Season 2 doesn’t mean we won’t ever see it in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer.

The game’s creators, Infinity Ward, are renowned for relying on prior resources and drawing heavily on iconic maps from earlier games in the franchise. Al Mazrah, a map from Warzone 2, contains subtle references to older maps like Storm, Shipment, and Pipeline.

There hasn’t been any official confirmation, but it won’t be long before all the fan favorites, including Afghan, Favela, Terminal, Quarry, and Underpass (to name a few), return with new graphics.
